Dan Kramer

My name is Dan.  I am currently GO\'s treasurer.  Two years ago, I joined Green Oxford in the second semester of Sophomore year and helped organize a business sustainability teach-in on campus.  This year I am a senior and my major is Finance. I am also co majoring in Environmental Principles and Practices.  I grew up in Cincinnati, OH.  In my free time, I enjoy walking outside a lot, running every once in awhile, and listening to and searching for new music!

Ian Winner

Hey. I’m Green Oxford’s Social Chair this year. It’s my job to organize all the fun stuff like hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, picnics, potlucks, etc. I joined Green Oxford last year and started the Reusable Water Bottle working group. We morphed that group into an Outdoor Recycling Bins group and accomplished our goal by getting 10 recycling bins outside on Miami’s campus. I want to keep alive the water bottle group this year. Over the summer, I interned at a great company called Terrashift. Check them out at Terrashift.org. I’m from Pittsburgh, PA. Like Dan, I enjoy hiking and finding new music. I also really like a good cup of coffee.

Tyler Elliot

Hey everyone. I’m Tyler Elliott. I’m Green Oxford’s VP of Community Service. You may be curious as to what that means; I am too. I’m a sophomore Western major, focusing on geology, environmental principles, and political science. I have been in GO since my first semester of freshman year. I enjoy animals and sports and vinyl records and stuff.  I also grew up on an island in Lake Erie, which I guess is kind of interesting.

Erica Fox

Hi. My name is Erica Fox. I am a sophomore and GO’s Secretary for 2010-11 year. I am an Anthropology major with an Environmental Principles and Practices co-major. I have been a member of Green Oxford since my 1st semester at Miami. I was a part of organizing the Trash Pile/Recycling Display outside of Shriver Center in April 2010. I am also the Undergraduate Representative on the University’s Sustainability Committee for this 2010-11 year as well as the 2009-10 year. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey, 40 minutes from New York City. And I aspire to become an Ecological Anthropologist.

Ben Stockwell

Hello comrades, I am Ben Stockwell, V.P. of information, which means while the other officers had to email me their information to have it posted here, I was just able to write mine in. Anyway, I\'m president of Secular Students of Miami and a Computer Science major. I\'m also part of the Coal working group. I\'m gonna be a full time activist.

I\'m currently living in Boulder, CO. I recently finished working for shipcompliant.com and am now working on some freelance projects as well as helping to organize a local conference (http://boco.me/). I try to get outdoors as much as possible whether it\'s hiking the local trails, camping, backpacking, or skiing and manage to attend http://trackerschool.com/ every once and a while.

Lauren Saulino
l.saulino@gmail.com

Lauren Saulino attended Clemson University for where she completed a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Spanish in 2005.  After this she moved to the Galapagos Islands where she worked for a year and a half as a Public Relations Specialist and Translator for the Chamber of Commerce in addition to serving as a tour leader for a local eco-tourism company, Sharksky Eco-Adventures.  After her time on the Enchanted Islands, Lauren moved to southwest Ohio to attend Miami University where she completed her Master of Environmental Sciences degree with an area of concentration in Environmental Management through the Institute of Environmental Sciences.  While at Miami (2007-2009), Lauren was actively involved in Green Oxford and the Miami U. student chapter of the National Association of Environmental Professionals, as well as working with both the University and the City of Oxford in searching for sustainable alternatives and solutions to current practices (an area of particular interest/emphasis was in promoting alternative forms of transportation).  After graduating from Miami in August, 2009 Lauren left the United States to work for a semester on the island of Bonaire as an intern for the study abroad program, CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange).  The Bonaire program, which welcomes undergraduate students from the United States and internationally, focuses on marine ecology and conservation; Lauren\'s role as an intern focuses on assisting with advanced scientific diving and underwater research methods as well as in the class for Tropical Marine Conservation Biology.  Lauren hopes to expand her responsibilities to include more service learning and biocultural projects that might bring the students together with locals to search for sustainable solutions to help maintain and protect this unique place.

Tom Schmidt

schmidt.tom@gmail.com

I was treasurer of Green Oxford from 2005-2006. Prior to that, the group was known as Students for Sustainable Design but changed names to reflect a broader focus beyond architecture.

I moved to Portland, Oregon after graduating from Miami in 2007. I worked at LRS Architects for two years and had the opportunity to work on two significant green building projects. The first was an office and research laboratory in Shanghai, China that is slated to be the world\'s largest LEED Platinum project upon completion. The second project was a conference center in Malibu, California that was designed with rammed-earth construction and intended to meet the requirements of the Living Building Challenge.

I am currently in my first year of pursing a Master\'s degree in architecture at University of Oregon\'s Portland campus. I chose the program for its emphasis on the integration of sustainable architecture and urban design. I am also involved with Oregon\'s chapter of Architects Without Borders, a non-profit organization that provides design services in the U.S. and abroad.

Cortney Schiappa
cortney.schiappa@gmail.com

I was the 2007-2008 Green Oxford president.  Together, the members and officers made a lot of significant progress that year: we united under one name with the Environmental Action Committee (EAC); we developed and launched a website; we participated in the \"President\'s task force on environmental sustainability\"; and we hosted several events and field trips including the first annual \"Earth day 5K.\"

I\'m currently directing a pilot program called \"Green Iowa AmeriCorps,\" a grant-funded community service effort operated through the University of Northern Iowa.  Our mission is to \"empower Iowa communities through energy education, weatherization, and outreach.\"  (It\'s basically Green Oxford on a bigger scale.)  With the help of 56 members,  our program has made significant grassroots energy-conservation efforts throughout Northeastern Iowa.  We spend our time conducting energy education presentations and workshops; weatherizing old homes to reduce air infiltration and improve efficiency; and building our personal knowledge base through experiential learning. Green Iowa AmeriCorps is based in two cities, Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids; and we hope to expand across the state and region in the near future.  We have three hiring periods (October, February, & May) for three lengths of service (10-month, 6-month, or 3-month).  If anyone is interested in joining Green Iowa AmeriCorps or would like to receive more information, visit
www.greeniowaamericorps.org (website coming soon), or contact me.

Bryan Glosik
bryan.glosik@cityofchicago.org

My name is Bryan Glosik. I was member of Green Oxford back in 2007, and would somewhat call myself a founding member I suppose. Here is a quick bio of what I am up to these days.

In July of 2009, I started my current position as a WRD Environmental Consultant to Chicago Department of Environment here at the Chicago Center for Green Technology (CCGT). Here is a brief description of the facility and it\'s purpose.

The Chicago Center for Green Technology is the first rehabilitated municipal
building in the nation to receive the LEED™ Platinum rating by the U.S. Green
Building Council. Mayor Richard M. Daley dedicated the building in 2002 and it
has gone on to become a national model for sustainable design and technology.
The Center serves as the most comprehensive green design educational resource
in the Midwest. We promote and advance sustainable homes, workplaces and
communities to enhance the quality of urban life. We work to facilitate this
through educational programming and training, research and demonstration and
by acting as a resource network.

My role here includes managing the tour program, assist in creating educational programming for our Green Tech U seminars, and help maintain our resource center. My time here has also allowed me to gain some significant professional development as well. Through grant funding, I had the opportunity to become a certified Residential Energy Auditor through RESNET.
